ATLANTA, GA — Metro Atlanta will mercifully be spared from the superstorm that had begun pummeling much of the eastern United States on Friday. In fact, after a rainy week, this weekend looks like it will be a sunny and pleasant one.
The most that the Atlanta area is likely to feel from the massive nor’easter, which is dumping rain and snow up and down the Atlantic coast, is some gusty winds — and those will mostly be in the north Georgia mountains. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for that area on Friday, with a wind advisory through 6 p.m.
Otherwise, things are looking brisk and mild for the weekend. The lows will be getting down into the 30s the next couple of nights. But highs will be around 60 and warming a little each day through Sunday, when the weather service forecasts a high of 65.
Lows are forecast to be 36 on Friday night, 37 on Saturday night and 40 on Sunday night.
There’s not a drop of rain in the forecast for this weekend. After a week that saw spotty showers throughout, that will be happy news for a lot of us. Get out and enjoy it, Atlanta.
